Online payment gateways for Singapore businesses.
An online payment gateway connects your website checkout to payment processing. For a Singapore business, compare supported payment methods, total fees, store compatibility and settlement reporting together. ONE Payments provides technology and integration support to help you put the setup into practice.
Which online payment gateway is right for your business?
Start with the way you sell. A store with many small orders faces different costs and operational needs from a business taking a few large invoices. Build a shortlist around your checkout journey, then ask each provider to quote against the same sales figures.
- Your website: platform, checkout version and who maintains it.
- Your customers: Singapore or overseas, order size and preferred payment methods.
- Your team: who handles refunds, order exceptions and settlement matching.
- Your next step: subscriptions, another outlet or a new sales channel, if relevant.
Choose the integration your team can maintain
Ask for a demonstration on the platform you actually use. A feature listed on a provider's website may still need a particular plugin, account configuration or separate integration.
| Approach | Useful starting point | Confirm before committing |
|---|---|---|
| Hosted checkout | A provider-hosted payment page connected to your order flow. | Return-to-store behaviour, branding and payment notifications. |
| WooCommerce plugin | A WordPress shop with a supported checkout extension. | Plugin versions, checkout compatibility, updates and refund handling. |
| Custom integration | A website or application with its own checkout requirements. | API scope, implementation owner, testing and maintenance costs. |
Cards and PayNow: confirm the complete journey
List the methods your customers need and ask which are available for your business and integration. For each method, walk through payment confirmation, order updates and refunds. A supported method is only useful when your team can reconcile it reliably.
PayNow Corporate enables eligible Singapore entities to receive SGD transfers through a UEN linked to a participating account. For website collection, ask how the order amount and reference are passed through and how a successful payment is confirmed.
Compare total fees using your own sales
Use the fee calculator to compare a percentage charge, a fixed transaction fee and monthly charges. Apply the same volume and average order value to both quotes. If you have different fee schedules for different payment methods or card categories, model each category separately.
The current editable example uses S$100,000 per month and a S$30 average order: 3% + S$0.50 versus 2.65% + S$0.40, with no monthly charge. That gives an estimated S$683.33 monthly difference and S$8,200 yearly difference. These are example inputs, not an advertised ONE Payments rate.
A practical gateway comparison checklist
Send the same questions to each shortlisted provider. Keep the written answers with the quote so your developer and finance team can check the same scope.
| Area | What to request |
|---|---|
| Pricing | The full fee schedule, including minimums, refunds, disputes, FX and any setup charges. |
| Settlement | Settlement currency, timing, cut-offs, reporting and any conditions that affect payouts. |
| Integration | A supported platform/version list and a clear split of responsibilities. |
| Go-live testing | Evidence of successful, declined and cancelled payments, order updates and refunds. |
| Support and exit | The support channel, escalation process, contract term and migration arrangements. |

Common questions
What is the best online payment gateway in Singapore?
There is no single best gateway for every business. Compare the total cost at your sales volume, required payment methods, website compatibility, settlement reporting and support. Request a quote and a demonstration for your exact setup.
Can I accept both cards and PayNow online?
This depends on the provider, merchant approval and integration. Ask which methods are supported on your website platform and test how each payment updates the order before launch.
How much does an online payment gateway cost?
Costs depend on the quote. Compare percentage fees, fixed transaction charges and recurring costs, then check the separate schedule for setup, minimums, refunds, disputes, currency conversion and tax.
Can ONE Payments help with an existing website?
The team can review your website platform and payment workflow, then discuss an appropriate integration scope. Supported features and the final commercial arrangement are confirmed for your business.
