PAYMENT COSTS · SGD

Payment gateway fees. The whole picture.

THE SHORT ANSWER

To estimate monthly payment costs, multiply processed volume by the percentage fee, then add the fixed fee for each estimated transaction and any monthly charges. Compare quotes using the same volume and average order value, and review excluded charges separately.

The example behind the calculator

The default comparison uses S$100,000 processed monthly, an average transaction of S$30 and zero monthly charges for both quotes. It models approximately 3,333.33 transactions. The transaction count is not rounded until displayed.

Estimated monthly costS$4,666.67S$3,983.33

S$683.33 per month. S$8,200 per year.

The annual difference is calculated from unrounded monthly figures, then rounded for display. Multiplying the displayed S$683.33 by 12 produces a small rounding difference. These figures illustrate the two entered quotes; they do not guarantee actual savings.

Why average order value matters

A fixed fee is a larger share of a small order. For example, S$0.50 is 5% of a S$10 sale and 0.5% of a S$100 sale, before a percentage charge is added. Two shops with the same monthly turnover can therefore have different total costs.

Use an average based on your actual transaction mix. If one part of the business takes many small payments and another takes larger invoices, compare those groups separately before combining the estimates.

Check the charges outside the model

This calculator estimates a simple fee schedule. It excludes GST, hardware, setup, minimum fees, FX, refunds and chargebacks. It does not model approval rates, payment failures or provider-specific rounding.

  • Request separate schedules for domestic cards, international cards and other methods where applicable.
  • Check whether charges apply to attempted, successful or refunded transactions.
  • Confirm contract terms and one-off costs before treating a processing-fee difference as total savings.
CLEAR ANSWERS

Common questions

Are these ONE Payments rates?

No. The default rates are editable examples supplied for this comparison. Obtain a written quote for your business before making a decision.

Why can a lower percentage rate still cost more?

A higher fixed transaction fee or monthly charge can outweigh a lower percentage, particularly with small orders. Compare the full calculation at your own sales volume.

Does the calculator include GST and every possible fee?

No. It includes the entered percentage fee, fixed transaction fee and monthly charge. Check GST, hardware, setup, minimums, currency conversion, refunds and disputes separately.
